Keeper of the Enchanted Pool

‘OTTO!  GET US OUT OF HERE! she screamed.

‘Oops, done it again, much apologies.  Shut eyes and concentrate.’

***

A forbidden day at the beach for Lottie and Bertie leads to the discovery of a packet of magic chalks.  Following the instruction – COLOUR ME REAL – on the packet, opens the gateway to Entransia.  Surprised to find they are expected, they are met by the Pipples, led by the unwittingly comical Otto.  Lottie is amazed to learn that she has the Pipples ability for telepathy and teleportation, but this is only the beginning…

Otto, with his small army of Pipples, together with the finest of Entransia’s army of gorillas, help Lottie in her mission to rescue Zultar, Crown Prince of Entransia, from her evil half uncle Fala’s dungeon.  Can they thwart his plan to use her to steal the Globe of Nitesh, for power beyond his most wicked dreams?

The Pipples have tremendous appeal and unlimited potential for being as magical as the name sounds.  A nice story that will surely hold the appropriate age group (and others) spell bound.  – Chuck Buckner

The quality of the writing is very good.  I like the graphic nature of the descriptions and I can imagine it made into a TV programme or film.  It is visually sensual and appealing.

What a magical story.  I loved every minute of it as it transported me back to my childhood, reminding me of similar stories of Enid Blyton’s, which have been around an extremely long time.
I’m sure children will enjoy reading this story and will feel the same excitement as Charlotte and Bertie on finding the special chalks with instructions COLOUR ME REAL.
Some of your descriptions were spectacular and akin to Disney films.  I particularly liked the pool surface changing to a mirror and the banquet table with the ice swan.  An absolutely wonderful story.  Thanks for cheering my day

This is a fascinating story using a great deal of imagination.  You are being very creative in the plot.  The characters are very real and so is the setting.  The dialogue captures the style of their time and the girl’s whereabouts are very authentic.  Especially the fantasy part made me want to read on and on and wish that the story never ends.  I think you have got a winner here.

An enjoyable read, which kept this readers interest until the end.  The narrative passages and dialogue kept the story moving smoothly forward.  An original storyline, the characters were well rounded and believable.

The language of The Enchanted Pool is colourful and energetic, the type of energy that keeps even less habitual readers (as many children are) reading onward and turning the page.
